As Financial Controller you will be responsible for Finance aspects of Napoleon Sports & Casino including but not limited to P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash reporting. Working alongside and learning directly from the CFO, you will be a key member of our finance leadership team, interacting closely with senior stakeholders across our high-growth organisation. The exposure and opportunity that this role presents will accelerate the candidates path to C-suite management.

 

Your responsibilities

In this role you will be able to combine technical and soft skills in a role where both financial & people leadership are equally important.

 

Financial Leadership:

  • Key responsibilities include managing end to end transactional processing leading to accurate and timely P&L, balance sheet & cash reporting
  • Oversees financial statement preparation in compliance with local Company Law and filing timelines
  • Maintains a suitable internal control framework with a focus on identifying and managing financial risks along with appropriate governance.
  • Brings insightful financial analysis which creates value – demonstrates good judgement and influencing skills. Driver of change & not afraid to do things differently
  • Provides guidance to the team by acting as a sounding board for ideas / suggestions
  • Works with senior stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement and automation, both in financial systems and in processes. Able to build support for change and lead from the front

 

People Leadership:

  • Leads and develops a high-powered team of ten qualified professionals - provides visible leadership and gives clear direction
  • Ensures there are clear objectives and escalates blockers to delivery as appropriate
  • Provides team direction by allocating resource across the team to meet deliverables and to avoid conflicting requirements; taking consideration of both short and long term goals
  • Holds career development and performance conversations with their team and ensures they all have development plans in place
  • Provides one-to-one coaching to team members and mentoring to the Finance team
  • Promotes a culture where existing practices and processes are challenged and improved upon

 

Your profile

  • Qualified accountant (Big 4 background preferred) with 10 years post-qualified experience in fast paced industry environments
  • Expert knowledge of accounting and financial practices, tax, and applicable legislation with strong grasp of IFRS reporting
  • Establish strong partnership relationship with the functional teams
  • Being collaborative and assertive, able to proactively gather information from different departments
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Excellent English language written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to express financial concepts to non-financial colleagues
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Business Central / Tagetik is helpful but not essential
  • Flexibility and ability to grow with us, both in the role and company
